About Me

I am a follower of Christ, a wife to my beloved for nearly 18 years, and a homeschooling mother to 5 little girls and 1 little boy.

I love reading and cooking with whole foods. My favorite fiction writers are Jane Austen and Charles Dickens. I also read lots of books on parenting, homeschooling and homemaking skills.

I am learning about natural methods of healing and I have given birth to 4 of our babies at home.

We moved to Montana in 2010 and were able to find a little plot of land on which to try our hand at homesteading. We are learning much along the way and I hope to share our trials and successes with you here.

  1. Hi Kay. Beautiful family picture. I didn’t see an offering in Laurel this week. Are there still deliveries to Stageline? Thanks!

    Hi Kay,

I came across your blog when I was searching for Bountiful Baskets in Laurel. It sounds like we may have a couple things in common. My family just moved here from Portland, Oregon last August (2011). We found an older place with some land and water (yay!). Our goal is to become as sustainable as possible. We had some chickens, but unfortunately had a fire (trying to keep them warm and lost our Barn/Garage/Bay with all of our chickens. We were very sad, we had really gotten to know our hens, not to mention losing our garage and almost our house. Anyways, I’m excited to try my luck with gardening (though I still need to order seeds- yikes). If you had any time, I’d love to hear what you recommend for your garden here in MT. Also, if you’d like to share your pig and milk sources. I’ve been looking to buy a pig and it’s been tough finding fresh milk out here. There’s a waiting list with the gal in Joliet. If you’ve got any extra eggs to sell, we may be interested in that too. At least until we get more laying hens. It’s good to see other like minded folk in this neck of the woods : ) Be well, Tracey
