Follow up on Giving

World Vision Jar

Last January I told you that we were setting aside a jar to donate money for World Vision and I wanted to give you a followup on our progress.

On Christmas morning after we opened our gifts we counted up the money we saved all year. Plus final donations from everyone including our family that was here visiting.

We were suprised to find that we had over $500! Everyone got to participate in deciding what we would give from the gift catalog and here’s what we decided to get:

  • A share of a well

  • A pair of goats

  • A sheep

  • 10 chickens

  • 5 ducks

We pray that God will multiply our effort and bless the recipients of these humble gifts abundantly.

Christmas is Coming!

It’s November! Can you believe it? Are you preparing for Christmas yet? I am starting too. Yesterday, I printed out the pages from the Holiday Planner I bought last year from Graham Family Ministries. It was a great blessing to me last year in getting me to write down our plans and make better use of our time. It also includes the The Glorious Coming: A Jesse Tree Advent Celebration by Ann Voskamp (one of my favorite authors).

On Monday, we are planning on making our Thanksgiving Tree once again this year. It is always so much fun to see what the kids write on their leaves and focus on what we are thankful for.

May our hearts all focus on the Giver during this holiday season!

Revisiting the 1000 Gifts List

Sorry I haven’t written much—life has been so crazy lately! I’ve been meaning to add more to my list. I have a few other posts I’ve been working on but haven’t been able to finish them yet. I hope you are enjoying your December. It will probably be the new year before I am posting more frequently on here again and I have some wonderful things I’ve been learning about that I am anxious to share with you.

Here are some more things on my list of 1000 Gifts:

91. A husband who has shared his life for the last 13 years with me. We keep growing & sharing together! (It is our anniversary on the 18th.)
92. Having all of our Christmas gifts purchased, wrapped & shipped now! We have a whole week left to take treats to people, spend time together and to enjoy instead of stressing over the details.
93. Our church family
94. My wonderful in-laws who are always willing to help with whatever needs done & are such wonderful babysitters!
95. My new cell phone
96. Our new library that is close enough to walk to with the girls!
97. Online Banking! Oh how that makes my life easier!
98. Prayer Warriors
99. The Bible class teachers at our church
100. Real Christian Fellowship
