Outside my window…
 20150107_123710
Blue skies with white clouds and snow partially covering the earth.
I am thinking…
About my priorities and how to spend this life I have been given. I also can’t believe its been 5 years today since we moved to Montana! We are so glad we moved here!
I am thankful…
For my new baby girl to love and to snuggle.

In the kitchen…
The girls are baking cakes for their 4-H Cake Decorating Project.
I am wearing…
A denim skirt with a warm sweatshirt.
In the garden…
The chickens are residing for awhile longer.
I am reading…
Own Your Life: Living with Deep Intention, Bold Faith, and Generous Love
by Sally Clarkson
I have just started reading it but I can tell this is going to be a very good book for me and the season I am in right now.
I am hoping…
For a renewed sense of purpose.
I am looking forward to…
Posting regularly. I have some great new series I am working on!
In the Schoolroom …
We are getting back into the swing of things after the holidays and the new baby.
Around the house…
Still a work in progress. Our biggest challenge is dishes especially since our dishwasher broke down again 🙁
One of my favorite things…
 8potato’s precious smiles
A few plans for the rest of the week:
Get back to our full schedules including me driving kids to their activities

Outside my window…
20141014_073708Mornings are chilly but the colors of fall are here and so very beautiful!
 I am thinking…
About how I can get our lives more organized and running efficiently before the baby comes. I am really enjoying working through The Simplified Organization Course by Mystie Winkler. I have implemented several of her strategies including a daily index card and a weekly overview checklist to keep on top of everything. It is really helping!
I am thankful…
For my hard working husband who provides for our family.
In the kitchen…
4potato (9 years old) and I made some yummy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies per her Papa’s request today.
I am wearing…
A maternity maxi skirt a friend lent me! I can see why everyone likes them. They are so comfortable!
I am reading…
My Bible nearly everyday! So glad to get back to this habit!
I am hoping…
To be better about posting on my blog regularly.
I am looking forward to…
 My upcoming trip to Arizona!
In the Schoolroom …
We are having very productive school days! I love this time of year when everything seems to run pretty smoothly.
Around the house…
Working on keeping up with our zone cleaning every day. It is working so well!
 One of my favorite things…
Having a fully stocked pantry and freezer!
This pregnancy…
I can’t believe I only have a couple months left! I don’t feel that big yet 🙂 I have had carpel tunnel syndrome for the first time this pregnancy. Some days my hands just don’t want to work right 🙁 but I hear that it should clear up after the baby is born.
A few plans for the rest of the week:
Keep on task!

Daybook 7/20/14

I decided to record a glimpse of life on a weekly basis starting this week!
Outside my window…
HOT! Its been 100 degrees today! It has been very hazy from the smoke coming from the fires in Washington, Oregon and Idaho but the sunsets have been incredible!
10435371_10203880981932368_1779853306581767818_n
I am thinking…
About Grace: how to receive it, how to give it and how it relates to the law
I am thankful…
For the air conditioning in my room!
In the kitchen…
I finally made spelt bread this week but used up the rest of my honey. I will have to get more before I can make bread again.
I am wearing…
A white blouse and one of my favorite skirts that has pockets that a dear friend of mine in Arizona made for me.
In the garden…
The weeds are taking over! But the lettuce is starting to be ready to be picked and the peas are getting close.
Looks like its going to be a big squash year! We have been getting about a cup of raspberries a day. So yummy!

I am reading…
Desperate: Hope for the Mom Who Needs to Breathe by Sarah Mae and Sally Clarkson
One Way Love: Inexhaustible Grace for an Exhausted World by Tullian Tchividjian
I am listening to…
Teaching from a State of Rest audio companions http://amongstlovelythings.com/rest
I am hoping…
For cooler weather tomorrow!
I am looking forward to…
Violet having her calf!
In the Schoolroom …
We started our Summer Session 2 weeks ago and it has been going pretty well. I have especially been happy with our current Bible study method. I will try to write a post about it 🙂
20140711_112923
Around the house…
We got a new toilet in the upstairs bathroom! Woohoo! The old one may have been here since the early 1980s. It was a lovely gold color and was leaking terribly! I wish we could redo the whole bathroom but I’m very happy at least this was fixed!
One of my favorite things…
Mark Avenue Chocolates: Coconut Almonds from Costco! Maybe a little too good!
This pregnancy…
I am already 17 weeks along! I’m feeling great as long as I get a nap! My blood work came back perfect! Maybe being 40 and pregnant isn’t so bad after all 🙂
A few plans for the rest of the week:
All things 4H! The state fair is in 2 weeks!! So much to finish up and prepare for this week!
A favorite quote for today…
Romans 3:20-24
Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin.  But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify.  This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference,  for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,  and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

FOR TODAY…

Outside my window… It is grey and snow is falling

I am thinking… what should I make for dinner

I am thankful for… my husband

I am wearing… a denim skirt and green/blue shirt

I am remembering…Spring in Arizona

I am currently reading… A Sane Woman’s Guide to Raising a Large Family by Mary Ostyn

I am hoping… that we can find THE place to put down roots

Pondering these words…

I am starved for the Bread of Heaven and I beg for that which is true sustenance and nothing on the earth or in the self can satisfy and I crave desperate for the Body and the Blood and Him, my only hope of righteousness.

– Ann at A Holy Experience

From the kitchen…  Blueberry Coffee Cake

Around the house… trying to figure out how to make a “Family Closet” work

One of my favorite things~ Cheesy Fries

FOR TODAY…

Outside my window… It’s snowing

I am thinking… how do I get our rhythms/routines back on track

I am thankful for… my husband’s new job

I am wearing… a paisley green shirt, denim skirt & grey cashmere sweater

I am remembering…my dear friend who gave me the sweater

I am currently reading…Crazy Love

I am hoping… we can figure out a new home for us before our lease is up

On my mind… menu planning

Noticing that…the house is still messy but it’s getting  better

Pondering these words…

“This is the year of Instead. It rolls off my tongue a little easier every day, and his friend, Yes, has been popping her head in more often, too. The key is to say the word first, quickly, then pause to think about how to make it happen. The children will help you, their hearts pounding a little faster when they realize their request is now a strong possibility. ” ( http://mamahooper.blogspot.com/2010/01/year-of-instead.html )

From the kitchen… Lentil Soup

Around the house… Kids Playing Hide & Seek

One of my favorite things~  Holding a sleeping baby

So glad you stopped by. I am a Christian wife and mother of 8 in the middle years. My kids are aged 4 to 20 and just about every 2 years in between. I write about our life as a big family, what God is personally doing in my life, food and books.
